Episode 10: The Overshoot Conference goes to Beijing, with Carl Schleussner and Deliang Chen
Show notes
The series returns as the Overshoot Conference enters its second edition. Conference chairs Carl-Friedrich Schleussner (IIASA) and Deliang Chen (Tsinghua University) introduce the Beijing conference, taking place 24–25 November 2026 at Tsinghua University and co-organised by Tsinghua and IIASA.
Since the first edition at IIASA in 2025, temporarily exceeding 1.5°C has moved from a scenario to a likely reality. The Beijing edition builds on that foundation.
The program also opens new ground, with two new themes: Technological solutions for decarbonization and negative emissions and Health implications of overshoot pathways.
We ask: What has changed since the first conference? Why Beijing, and why now? And what can a stronger exchange between Chinese and international researchers bring to the science, policy and practice of overshoot?
This episode kicks off a new series. Over the coming episodes, the theme chairs will introduce the two new themes joining this year’s conference. Subscribe so you don’t miss them.
